Celebrating the enduring Polish links with Stratford-upon-Avon

The evening will include reading out excerpts from Jan Kochanowski and William Shakespeare by a literary scholar Anita Jones Debska, together with a lecture by Professor Barry Keane providing an introduction to Kochanowski for those not yet familiar with his importance to Polish and European culture. The evening’s programme will also feature Polish music (Alternative Strings) and folk dancing (Wieśniacy). Shakespeare Birthplace Trust will display their archival documents, researched and hand-picked by volunteers from the local Polish community.

This evening reflects Polish contributions to literature and drama, as well as longstanding and more recent Polish connections with Stratford-upon-Avon and south Warwickshire. His Excellency Arkady Rzegocki, Polish Ambassador to the court of St James will introduce the evening.
