In total –up to 2,000 entries from all over the world and 160 projects recognized in one of the most important international contests for young and talented creators.
The competition, held for designers and students of art subjects, constitutes a crucial element of Łódź Design Festival, the biggest event organized for the design industry in Central and Eastern Europe. The goal of make me! is to identify and support debuting artists aged between 20 and 35 years, who are about to launch their careers in the world of design. Entries for next year's edition can be submitted by March 15th, 2019. As in previous years, Ceramika Paradyż, the Main Patron of the Festival, actively participates in the creation of the program and serves as the annual sponsor of the main prize – 50 000 PLN. Winners will be awarded with a special recognition – an amount of 10,000 PLN from the organizers of Łódź Design Festival.
Łódź Design Festival is the oldest such event in Poland. It has been held for 12 years, and has thus gathered close to 450,000 visitors from all over the world. Each edition allowed the organizers to adjust the program in a way that it would meet the expectations of the design industry, business, and visitors. One of the main objectives of the festival for many years is to create a platform for business, therefore the event, besides exhibitions, workshops and lectures, provides its visitors with an opportunity to learn the brands participating in the event or participate in a project focused on the business development of Polish design industry, such as BiznesUp ! Design made in Poland.
Currently, works on the 13th edition of Łódź Design Festival are underway. Next year’s edition will be held from 17th to 26th May under the slogan “Good Life”. Furthermore, enrollment for the must have plebiscite and the open festival program have been launched as well. It is addressed not only to institutions and curators, but also artists, designers and companies.
- Next year we will try explain how we understand “good life” with regard to issues related to arranging private interiors, offices, green areas in public spaces and services. An important step of the program will include topics related to ecology and the challenges that designers have to face in connection with the climate change and shrinkage of natural resources. We will also ponder on how technology affects the design process, what possibilities does it provide, and what challenges does it place in front of the design industry. All information about the next year's edition can be found at the Festival's website – adds Aleksandra Kietla, Łódź Design Festival.
